Enterprise To Add 5000 Hybrids To Fleet
Enterprise Rent-A-Car says it will create a second "hybrid branch" at the Denver International Airport, when it adds about 40 more hybrid vehicles at that location, bringing the location total to 100. Overall, the company plans to add about 5,000 hybrids to its fleet, which will include Toyota Prius and Camry, and Ford Escape models.
Customers will be able to request hybrid vehicles using the company's online or phone reservation system. The hybrids will cost about $10 more per day than vehicles with conventional drive trains.
In all, the company plans about 80 hybrid branches. The added hybrid vehicles will expand the company's hybrid fleet to about 7,000 vehicles. Enterprise also plans to add "E85/FlexFuel" branches, where E85-capable vehicles will comprise about 30% of the branch's available vehicles.
The hybrids are just one part of the company's Keys To Green environmental program, which aims to reduce net carbon emissions and promote more fuel-efficient rental vehicles. Enterprise also owns the National and Alamo car rental companies.
