Default Randomness ... A moment in the Life of LissaValerian

Okay, I have to share this ... Just to give you an idea of how random moments are in my life ...

So, my roommate is trying to mail out a card to her uncle, but she can't find the zip code. I'm sitting at the computer and I'm like, "Just give me the address", she's like "huh? I just need to find my address book", as she is scurrying about the house looking for her missing address book I said, "stop stressing and give me what you've got." She gives me the address, I type it into google, it pulls up the map, and I give her the zip code. She's like "you can do that??" And I said, "Hey, is this your uncles driveway?" (street view in google maps), She comes over and looks, "no way! It is, and theres that tree I ran into with my car, omg, I haven't been there in years, wow!" So, she goes off to mail her card, and I'm like "hmmm, I wonder how Google did that with the street view thing," so I ... of course ... googled it ... and came up with the wikipedia entry that talks about googles quest to conquer, er, map the world and their progress thus far:

Google Street View - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Meanwhile, I'm looking through the page, and it shows a pic of one of the google cars with the camera mounted on top driving through the street in Japan, after all, they are planning on conquering, er, mapping the world! "Thats really cool," I think. Then I notice something interesting in the picture and think, "now isn't THAT neat - how progressive of the Japanese ..."

Very cool pic, eh? Do you see what's interesting about it, other than the car with the mounted camera on top?

How about the bicycle parking lot on the left? Where do we have THOSE in the US?

Well, that's my randomness for the day. :-)

Actually Microsoft's Virtual Earth gives you a 3-D image that is even better. I used to do the google one but switched when someone showed me what you can see with this thing! Give Virtual Earth a try, I bet you'll like it too!

I have heard that there is another site you can go to and get the aireal view of your property. It might be the Virtual Earth. We have always wanted to try it since our house is new...to see if it is on there. Thanks for the info.

LOL - While I think this is all cool, I think you guys missed the POINT of my message ... other than the randomness ...

Parking lots for BICYCLES! Now that's supporting alternative energy!

Where do we have those in the US?

Not here in SoFLA!
