I think that depends on the level of supervision that will be available poolside. A pool party in my eyes is one of those situations that you can allow your child to have at even elementary ages as long as there is proper supervision. Just because you are there hands on and it can be viewed at the same level as a school swim class or a field trip to the YMCA.

Writersblock- will you be there with the kids? Teens--- I think is a bit more tricky than younger kids- Younger kids you will be there for the safety reasons- Younger kids won't be smooching in the pool.
I say let a teenager have a pool party- as long as you check in on them- stay in the house for most of it--- but check in... |

well, i think that there is nothing really have to do with age. some teens does not know their limitations. and we can not avoid some problems when we allow them to have this kind of party. but sometimes, we also need to give them their space and freedom.
