Default Driving holidays

Have you been on one? Would you? Do you think it is a good idea to load the car and just drive or would this bore you?

Ugh. It would just BORE me, and I know for sure, because my father was a "driving holiday" sort of person. "Getting there is half the fun?" Bah! "Get me there and then have fun" is more my motto. The journey from here to there is a necessary evil, nothing more.

Yeah, I think I should agree on that! Getting there is what's important, and have the fun that you crave when you are there! A long ride is boring!!!

Of course, my kids have it easier than I did on such long drives. Portable DVD players, iPods, even wireless Internet ... all I ever had was a book, some action figures, and two annoying sisters to while away the time.

We dont just get in the car and drive with no destination in mind.

I have driven to vacation~ from NY to Florida. I love it. My hubby drives and I sleep My kids have all the gadgets to keep them busy, so it usually isn't a bad trip.

We drive to some vacation spots- and I don't think it's much fun--- unless you stop along the way and plan things- We drove to NC on year to the beach- it was a 16 hour drive from my house- we stopped about half way and stayed the night- then we got up and hit an amusement park and then left the next day to continue on.

It does make the ride nicer if you stop along they way to break it up. We use to always plan our stops around McDonald playlands for the kids to blow off some steam.
We'd let them play for a bit and then get the food to eat in the van to break up the time for them.

I also would always pack balls and bubbles and fun outside stuff. It the kids got restless, we'd stop at a rest area and let them run around and play for a while.
