Default Diesel Hybrids?

I've seen stuff about public transportation buses going hybrid, but are there any diesel *cars* that are electric hybrids? I'd love to see something that was modified to run on used veggie oil, I could totally see a veggie oil hybrid vehicle, the ultimate green car (that would smell like french fries, eh?)

From what I could find vw and several others are working on a diesel hybrid but I couldn't find one that is in production yet. The prototypes I saw pictures of looked good though. The VW prototype got 69.9 miles to the gallon.

Some alternative fuels widely used right now is biodeisel, which is extrcted from the veggie residue from restaurants ad hotels. Too good on their green innovations. Recycling and Environment friandly engines.

On the other hand, I didn't see any hybrid diesel that uses this fuel together with electric or something in their hoods.

My husband use to have a VW diesel. It was awesome! I am all for getting 69.9 mpg.
