Post Free Electricity

I forgot the town, (Somehow I think it's Portland Oregon) where there are public electrical plugs to recharge your cars. It's open to everyone and it's free!

I was amazed to see that there actually is a forward thinking place where people are putting their good ideas to use in a workable way. And I can't help but wonder why other cities, all of whom have excess electricity, also don't make plug in places free to people who have electric cars.

I can't see why other cities don't follow the same idea. That would get more people buying electric cars and that would make everyone's lives better and cleaner.

Oh, I just remembered that up my block a store somehow plugged itself into a street light and stole all its electricity from the city until they were found. I guess that too many people would take advantage of anything free and would find a way to ruin it for the rest of us.

Well, at least it works in Portland. Sigh

Thats would be my one concern if I bought an electric car. It needs to be charged all the time from what Ive heard. I am sure in the future the battery life will last longer.

This reminds me of the receptacles that have been in some northern towns for decades. In some areas like Timmins, ON, it's very common for everyone to have a block heater in their car, and if you go into a shopping mall or something like that, you plug in your car's heater.

I wonder how much difference there is in the amount of electricity for something like that as opposed to charging a battery on a hybrid car?

Default In Ireland

I read something like that in Ireland where solar energy is harnessed to charge a hybrid car beside the road and its free I think.

This should be a great concern buying one. A typical gasoline car takes only 5 minutes to fill its tank!

Many have known this but haven't thought of taking up stations.

I'm really going to have to take notes now as I watch TV. On another TV program I heard that each city uses electricity and they all have excess electricity on their grids at night that can be used cheaply if the city wanted to let people use it. It's paid for already anyway.

I doubt that anything would ever be given away, but there could be electricity stations in city owned parking garages where they offer to let your electric car plug in during the day to charge up.

I'm sure it wouldn't be that expensive to set it up and there's a possibility for a load of money to be made in big cities where people can't plug into their apartments.

Again, maybe Energy Up stations can be put into buildings' parking lots. Someone tell Big Boy Trump that money can be made by selling electricity to "gas" cars and he'll fall over himself to set up electric parking lots in his buildings' parking lots. Then others can see that it can be done and there will be Energy Up stations all over.

In one way it's a dream, but big money can be made so it's a real possibility.

Yes, it's a possibility because inventors and the government will work hand in hand with this. A long period of study will result to a good outcome.

Yes, every city should think generously like this one. The excess energy should be given to the public. This is one move to lessen the impact of global warming.

Wouldn't plug in cars have as much of a bad impact on global warming as does running on full gasoline car. Energy is made, and adds to global warming so which is better?
