Default Make Way For Electric Cars

I asked in another thread if hybrids are the Laserdics of the AFT movement, and here's an article that contributes to that thought ...

Expect plug in cars by 2010-2012.

Thanks for the article link. I am glad to see that the need for these is at least making it to the table and I think that you are right it does contribute to what you had previously stated.

I wonder how long these cars need to be plugged in to be fully powered?

I think that's the part of the equation that they're working on right now, tom. Also, the functionality of it--my own house, for example, has only one outdoor outlet, and it's not a terribly high voltage one (I tripped the circuit with an overambitious Christmas light display once).

If these cars will be here in these years, there should be enough modifications on the houses' electrical circuits.

You know, I think you may be right, the hybrid may very well be the laserdisc of the renewable energy movement, but in some ways, thats okay, because it will at least have raised awareness and put some dents in the gas usage. Or so it seems to me. But, I would prefer to be driving an all electric car myself. What about a solar powered car, now THAT would be cool, er, hot! :-)

I imagine that, in the long term, there will be dedicated duty outdoor recharging ports. Especially since, once electric cars become developed, there will be other electric motors in our houses--lawn mower, motorcycles, etc.

Sweet info Agent Fred. I am wondering if the electric cars also have a special plug or does it plug into a regular outlet.

Not soon enough. Though I could not imagine how bad they would end up being on the environment. I doubt we can figure out how to make them function on air and water alone :-)
