Default how much power do hybrids have?

Is there a power loss in driving a hybrid car opposed to a regular one?

I want to know if I'll have at least a similar amount of power if I press down on the gas pedal!

There are major differences in terms of power. Maybe normal cars have more power but hybrids have a large advantage in fuel economy which is one of the main purpose of building these cars.

I think the more you press the accelarator, the more power you get and more power consumption.

In terms of horsepower, the common car have all of it but what's the point of having hybrid cars is the fuel economy and more mileage corresponding to your money. The power that is being used by the electric motor is being returned to the engine thru regenerative braking system and can be used again and again. So, there is a little power loss in it.

okay, here is what I am wondering.
If I am driving down the highway and I see an accident happen in front of me if I swerve and accelerate to get around it will my hybrid car have the power when I push down on the accelerator to get me out of that situation?

Talking

Hybrids have power, as many have asked before. Manufacturers are generous enough giving people answers to every question that they might have. The recent news tells that there is now a 700 bhp supercar running on electric. Just Imagine how many horses are squeezed to fit in its hood!
