Default Hybrid Owner Saves Gas By Slowing Down

I just read an interesting article about a hybrid owner who was able to increase his gas mileage by roughly 42 percent simply by slowing down from 75 MPH to 60 MPH or slower.

There is a threshold speed which can give you maximum mileage. In some cars, there is green markings on the speeds which are considered as economical. We should follow such guidelines and save the fuel.

Just the fact that this guy slowed down and increased his mileage says a lot about our responsibility as drivers and the role we play in fuel consumption. The guy in the article who drives a Corvette and says his time to too valuable to slow down is a selfish jerk.

I agree on that. This article tells the truth about driving any kind of cars and vehicles. The less presuure on the pedal, the less fuel is consumed.

There are many things we drivers can do to help us slow down. One tip is to place a quarter on your dashboard. If you accelerate too quickly or brake too hard, the quarter will move. Same thing if you are aggressive in turns. Another thing we can do is pretend that it hurts our foot every time we press hard on the gas pedal.

I read an article in which it was suggested to press on the throttle pedal as if there was an egg beneath it. If you press lightly enough the imaginary egg would remain intact and the gentle acceleration that follows would improve fuel efficiency.

This could be a very good habit for people who want to economize their fuel usage. Also for people who want to rehabilitate their driving styles from fast to slower.

Yes, this guidelines are carefully engineered by the manufacturers. These are not just for the filling of the owner's manual but for the car owners to use and follow.

If all the owners and drivers would follow the guides, a long life of the car will be achieved.

This is true to all types of vehicles. Even the common cars. When you slow down with the accelerator being pushed slightly, of course the fuel consumption will also be small.

That should lessen the fuel consumption and longer mileage. For a time span of driving, the driver will get use to it.
