Default maintainance

A hybrid car suffers from less wear and tear on the engine and braking system. So, the maintainance should cost lesser. But i have heard that a hybrid car is very expensive to maintain as compared to normal cars.
Is it so? why?

I think the cost of replacing the battery is very high!
Also maybe some car techs are familar with the technology, so you have to take the car to dealerships who charge more.

Yes the costs of the batteries of these cars I think is very high but you can have a gain in the fuel consumption rate, the mileage and the environment friendliness of the car.

This is a very common comparison of both cars but the fact that hybrids are environment-friendly, I think that should put a period of the argument.

My concern with electric cars is what happens to the batteries once they stop holding a charge. I look at the current life of rechargeable batteries on laptops and other devices and after a certain point, the batteries are useless and have to be discarded. Will there be environmentally safe places to discard batteries so they can be recycled?
