The strange this about this news article is that it is in a British newspaper and that I have not heard of it from a US paper at all.

I guess what is also strange is that it's a darn contest, not a government sponsored amount of cash to help all researchers who are working on this problem.

It's a rather small amount of money to support a group who has already had to find sources of money in order to win the award.

I wish that there was government monies available to support all research.

Key word there is proposes...which can translate into a lot of things.

I wont believe it till I see it and if I dont see it I won't be surprised at all.

You're absolutely right! To see is to believe.

The thing is, this is a very small amount of money in the overall scheme of things. Reportedly, we're spending $10 Billion A MONTH in Iraq, War Costs Approach $10 Billion a Month. So why not spend that in one YEAR on this hybrid or all electric technology? I think our priorities are mixed up. It's a token effort.

I think it is a great thing to use money to develop new technology rather than use it for the oil and gas efforts.

Yeah, instead of giving the budget to other things such as the war in Iraq, I think the government should start givig big importance to hybrids and hybrid technology.

I'd like nothing more than to have the United States totally get off this oil dependency of ours. So if McCain wants to have some kind of competition to get this thing going so we can go green, so be it. Someone has to start this thing off because our leaders in congress have their heads up their rears and aren't doing a thing about our current crisis.
