It doesn't mean that new drivers are prone to accidents. Everyone is free to buy anythng that they can afford. As long as they want to have hybrids, they can have it, but they should be accompanied by a pro driver and leave them on their own if they are good enough to drive on their own.

I think every new or aspiring drivers should learn each driving guide and tip before they have their own cars.

It doesn;t matter which car will a new driver have as long as he is careful enough in driving and confident enough to have a car and drive everywhere he wants to go.

From the experience in this house, new drivers are prone to more accidents.

I don't feel that hybrids pose a threat to new drivers, if they can afford to buy it (or their parents buy it for them), let them drive it. It's almost unfair for new drivers to have to afford the gas that full time working adults can barely afford...

I think that any driver, no matter how long they have been driving should be careful about following the rules of the road and know the car they are driving well.
I think most new drivers drive clunky cars because that is all they can afford rather than because they might wreck a newer car.

My boys both got nice cars when they started driving. I shouldn't say that the new drivers are prone to more accidents, but they don't have the skill to see the accident coming to them.

Both were hit by other drivers and both times it was the other drivers fault. I guess when my next son drives, I would rather him spend his money on a car that isn't so nice because of this. I shouldn't look at it that way....you are right.

I don't see any problem with it as long as you are ok with the higher incidence rate that teenagers have when they begin driving.

twocents~ I was beginning to think it was just in my family that there are more incidents with the new drivers

I think that once the boys become a bit more responsible drivers, and save some money, that may be the time for them to look into a hybrid.
