Default Scooter Instead of a Hybrid

Has anyone here considered buying a scooter instead of a hybrid? I am seriously thinking about it right now, only because I cannot afford the cost of a new hybrid vehicle. Scooters are not hybrids, but they are a lot more efficient than a regular car.

I can't imagine a point where I'd ever consider a scooter. They can't go on the highway, and they're as bad as a motorcycle in terms of poor weather performance (i.e. I live where it snows in the winter). It would be useless to me.

Actually, some of the newer ones can go on the expressways now. They get higher speeds and are built so that they offer more stability.

We actually have a moped that we are considering fixing up to make it street legal.

This would be a great way for my hubby to get back and forth to work, or for the kids to run to the store.

It would also fit in our budget at this time.

LOL---- I had a moped when I was a kid- it was not legal to drive on the roads- but I did anyway.
No-- I would not consider this- driving a scooter. I have a child and where would we put the stuff we needed and the 2 of us? Just not enough room.

Default Scooter

Economically, it make sense to consider using scooter because of the present condition where gas price is so high. But thinking about the safety, I would still prefer cars.

Scooters are very great for leveled roads and depending greatly on the distance of the travel. You can't use it uphill!

Scooters on highways! I want to see that. Anyone have a picture of one of these?

Speed and stability are not the only concerns of highway driving. Snow, for example.

So true. A scooter wouldn't work in all kinds of weather. I think a motorcycle would be better than a scooter , at least they go fast enough to keep up with traffic.
