That is too funny! You are right, so many people that ride scooters do look kind of dorky....but hey, they are saving a ton of money.

I wouldnt drive it in the snow either, I was just suggesting it as another alternative to run around in.

Oh and there was a CNN special (or some other major news station) that did a story on the rising popularity of scooters. One of the main guys they followed was a really tall, 300 pound high school teacher.

It really looks like a motorcycle with tiny wheels lol I guess everything can be taken to an extreme. But I would feel okay riding that.

I wouldn't consider a scooter mainly because of the safety issues. I do not think they are as safe as a motorcycle and safety is important to me. I had a friend who was hit while driving one of these and she was wearing a motorcycle helmet(even though they aren't required by law while driving a scooter in my state) and had bad enough brain damage she had to be institutionalized for the rest of her life.
I also see people driving scooters as if they were toys, weaving in and out of cars in traffic and doing things I know aren't even legal when you are on a plain old bicycle.
I want to be around for my son and these things just aren't safe enough/
