Are people thinking how necessary alternative fuels are?

The fact is, many people don't! They just take these new inventions on alternative fuels as new products. People shouldstart thinking about preserving our earth for future generations.

Carbon Monoxide, Oxides of Nitrogen, particulate matters, etc. contributed greatly in the greenhouse effect and thus damaging the ozone layer.

The fact is, even if we don't use renewable fuels, the fossil fuel supply everywhere in the world would come to an end.

Seems like everyone is aware of the problem, but no one is doing anything about it. You'd think they could channel the money and energy from the war "against terror" (which is really about fuel) and turn it into something positive that will save the planet.

Many people may have thought about its importance but not applying it in their daily lives. Yes, they have seen the greenhouse effect on TV but they still use plastic cellophanes, burn rubber, etc. and not taking a serious look at the effect. I guess the people in authority should think about other ways to spread the word.

These fuel are very useful. Everyone should be aware about the effect of global warming if we all would not shift to this in the future.

With the ongoing studies right now, I think these alternative fuels will be just raw materials to the future alternatives by somewhat improving it or combining with each other. No one knows what the future brings.

Ok, I am a little confused is alternative and renewable fuels the same thing? What is worse for our earth, the gas we use now or renewable?

I think that's why it is called renewable energy because it can be used again and again. In this case, gasoline and diesel can be more harmful than renewable energy.

No. The terms mean different things.

"Alternative fuels" simply means any fuel used to run a vehicle that is not gas (or not oil based). If I designed a car that ran on copper, squirrels, or Spam, each would be an alternative fuel car.

"Renewable fuel" means fuel that comes from a source that we can grow more of, unlike gasoline, which comes from a source, oil, which is finite. There's only so much oil in the ground, and at the rate we're pumping it, we will run out of it someday. But something like ethanol comes from corn, which we can always grow more of.

Basically, all renewable energy sources would be alternative fuels, but not all alternative fuels are neccessarily renewable resources.

The only way people are going to pay attention and notice these alternative fuels is if other people make them. Companies and other people with power and a voice need to make sure this news and importance is being give the spotlight. Otehrwise it will be slow to catch on.

Yes, twocents, and it HAS been very slow to catch on. It's one of the reasons why $4 gasoline may be a good thing, or at least a bad thing with good consequences; people are all of a sudden interested in that which they couldn't care less about a few years ago.
