Hybrid Taxis

Many residents and the city itself is pushing for more hybrid taxis to be added to their line. Right now I think there are thirty out of thousands that have switched to hybrid, but one of the biggest companies made a pledge to up that number.

Does your city push for hybrids from their taxi companies, offer incentives for those that switch?

I somehow thing (perhaps wrongly) that hybrids wouldn't be robust enough for the punishing grind of being a taxi. What do you folks think?

Honestly, I have not heard anything about it here in Arizona. It would be nice though as the price of cabs or taxis is steadily increasing with the rising gas prices.

I am wondering if the battery will charge long enough with a taxi ride.

If so, it would be great to see cab fares go down.

I guess it can be done. Though they haven't been doing it all that long.

That is a sweet looking taxi! It said that they originated in 2005 in San Fransisco.

I would love to see taxis running to and from Detroit Metro airport with the hybrid label on them!

Eventually we will see the hybrid taxies running in all major cities. That will be great for everyone involved.

I think that is the best idea I have heard in a long time.

The owners of the taxi services can make a big ad marketing roar and then people would start to boast that they only ride hybrid cabs. That would be a great way to get their passengers to advertise for them. I can also see the city giving those hybrid cabs a tax break.

Someone will be making money hand over fist this way. I just wish it was me!
