Default When did they begin?

What year did the hybrid cars originate?

Seems like just this year we are hearing about them. Just wondering if they just came out or were around before?

The only information that I could find said that the first hybrid vehicles were built in the year 1900 but gas was inexpensive then that it was impossible to convince people to buy the hybrids.

In 1976 Congress enacted a law called the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Research and development Act. I think the hybrids that have been developed began with the research that this Act started up.

Great article, it was too valuable and informative to me. I think the whole credit should be given to Jesuit priest, Ferdinand Verbiest who developed the idea.
