I saw this on another forum I belong to. It's a car kit for about $4k which converts your car into a hybrid. What you do is modify the rear wheels of the car so when you are at a stop, you use gasoline to get rolling. Once you are moving along, you can use battery power to move the rear wheels. If you have front wheel drive, with this kit, it becomes a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

The guy I received this information from says he gets close to 50 MPG on his modified Saturn and expects to get up to around 70 MPG when this is added. It is a fascinating idea, but it's also ugly.
