Motorcycles would be much more advisable to those withouth families to take care of. Accidents from motorcycles are almost inevitable. True it would cost lesser and be more effecient regarding traffics but the risk is too great for me to take.

I'm not sure that all of the blame can be placed on non-motorcyclists. As a motorcyclist, I've seen my share of idiotic riders who really give the rest of us riders a bad name.

That being said, I ride my motorcycle whenever the weather allows it so I can save gas. In the city, I get about 45 miles per gallon on my 1982 Honda CX500 Custom. It costs about 8 dollars to fill up and that's really painful because I remember the days when it was a dollar to fill up the tank.

I think that motorcycles are not advisable for everyone because it is very risky. I don’t have a family yet but I don’t like motorcycles. Motorcycles are slower than a car and you can’t load it with your things.

I'm not sure what kind of motorcycle you are talking about, but there are motorcycles that will blow away the fastest street legal car. It's a matter of weight ratio. Because even the heaviest motorcycle is still lighter than a car, it will always outrun a car. Also, because motorcycles are smaller, there's more response time when there's a problem. Of course, this all depends on the rider. I always try to be a polite rider and have nothing but disdain for those riders who show off or speed.

I do agree that you can't load much on a motorcycle, but people do get creative when they have a load to carry.

Riding motorcycle for about 20 miles is a pain in the back. Motorcycles can be a very nice ride in the city proper and short distance travels.

I think that it would be best to ride on a public transportation than to ride a car and pay for those high fuels. You could also save your back from aching.

The problem is that in some parts of the country, public transportation isn't a realistic option. In my part of Utah, the bus runs every 30 minutes and it takes me about 1 hour to make a trip which would take 15-20 minutes on my motorcycle or car. Taking the bus means I'd spend 2 hours of travel time for what is normally a 40 minute trip. I hear what you are saying, Postman, but unless things speed up, I'm still driving.

Uguis...I'm curious what kind of motorycle is a pain in the back? I have a cruiser which is very comfortable.

You're right on that. Motorcycles are great when it comes to traffic jams, narrow roads and quick travels. The accident rate is very high for this vehicle and not mentioning the rain and snow for this kind of transpo.

The weather is one thing that will get me off of my motorcycle. Right now, it's close to 100 degrees when I leave and when I shove my helmet on, it becomes an oven. Also during the winter, we get snow. As for the accident rate, it's typically single rider accidents where people lose control on a curve because they take it too fast. Having 4 wheels on the ground is always more forgiving than having two wheels.

Now some car companies have launched cars whose prices are closer to the motorcycle's price but still people are more likely to purchase motorcycles because they know that purchasing a car is not a big deal, the important thing is affording fuel for the car.
