A Chevy engineer was on the Todd Scnitt show this week. He is part of the Volt team. This guy was definitely not part of marketing or pr machines but his passion for the vehicle was palpable. I think the manufacturers have to do more of this sort of thing. Put the tech guys out there on the talk shows, etc. We all know the rah-rah routine of the marketing folks. The tech guys/gals provide really fascinating info and I think they can generate more excitement than the marketing folks.

I guess that when an engineer is talking I don't feel like I am being sold or that certain facts are being spun.

Exactly right. As someone who has worked for marketing companies, techies in general tend not to care much for the "marketing" people "suits" we called them, but at the same time, the techies who were really into their jobs believed in their products. This is a smart move to get a techie to promote the product! Awesome! It builds my confidence in the product.

I wish I'd heard the program that you did!! I think that the trouble with marketers is they are putting 'spin' on it to try and get it to sell rather than sharing all the facts about their product so we can decide if we want it. If the product is that good you don't need to add the 'hype.'
