Default Batteries

I saw that for a full battery replacement it can cost around $3000. So how long do the batteries typically last?

According to hybridcars.com, batteries "are designed to last for the lifetime of the vehicle, somewhere between 150,000 and 200,000 miles."

The quotes of the manufacturers are based on some data and a certain style of driving. The life of the hybrid battery I think ultimately depends on the driver's style, weather of the place and other factors. 150,000 to 200,000 miles of total travel is ideal.

I think it would be very rare to need a replacement battery on a hybrid car!

I figured if it lasted long enough then it would actually be fairly good price wise considering everything that you have to do to a standard car over the course of it's lifetime.

Simplyme, a lot of what you have to do to a regular car, you would still have to do to a hybrid. So those other maintenece costs still factor in.

So where actually besides fuel do you save? I know the economic part of it but don't they usually get longer life out of the tires etc ?

Just like some tips are said, a smart driver and owner can provide additional life to the car's life including the parts and others. By reading the owners manual or some car care tips, you can be aware of the small things that you can do to your car to prolong its life. Just like the habit of not exposing it to sunlight to avoid damaging of paint, knowing the exact pressure of tires against the cars body weight, etc. These thoughts and tips can lower future costs for your car. You may not buy tires more often, long battery life and more. Hope that clafies something simplyme. Or should I say simplyyou.lol

Well, other than the fuel, the thing runs just like a regular car. They use standard tires and drive on the same roads as the rest of us. There's no reason to assume they wouldn't wear and tear just like everything else.

I certainly would hope that the battery would last a lifetime at that cost. Nothing like having your battery run dead and having to fork out $3000!
