I think it will take at least a generation. After all, the gas economy has spent 100 years imposing itself on our lives; thinking that we can get rid of it in anything less than 20 years (or even 50 years) is idealism.

MAybe another 100 years would be the time. The other "less fortunate countries" didn't even bother having hybrids because they have other problems in mind but we could get there sometime.

You are right about this one, it will take a generation to dry off Saudi!

But the number of vehicles that uses the fuel will slowly be converted to hybrids or the owners will buy hybrids in the future.
