Ford Hybrids
Currently, the Ford Company has only one hybrid vehicle but also has several vehicles in the works that run on corn oil as opposed to regular oil, making the cars safer for the environment. Ford’s only current hybrid is the Ford Escape SUV Hybrid but it has been labeled as one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs on Earth and may be one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on Earth as well.
Ford Escape Hybrid comes in seven different colors and you can choose between 4-wheel drive or Full-wheel drive models. The interior comes with standard eco-friendly cloth seats and dual map seats, or if you prefer, you can choose leather seats and heat features on the front seats in the premium and leather comfort packages. The hybrid also comes standard with a CD system, dual-zone automatic temperature control, an outside temperature display, a coat hook in the cargo area and power windows and power door locks. Nearly anything you can dream up can be added to the Ford Escape Hybrid through one of the optional Premium Packages. These packages can be added to either the 4-wheel drive model or the Full-wheel drive model, without issue. Ford Escape Hybrid has a fuel tank capacity of 15 gallons and comfortably seats up to 5 adults.
The 4-wheel drive and Full-wheel drive models do have a major difference in ratings for highway and city miles per gallon, though. The Full-wheel drive Ford Escape Hybrid has a fuel economy rating of 34 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The 4-wheel drive Ford Escape Hybrid, on the other hand, has a fuel economy rating of only 29 miles per gallon in the city and only 27 miles per gallon on the highway.
One of the advantages of the Ford Escape Hybrid as opposed to its conventional counterpart is that the hybrid accepts regular unleaded gas, whereas the conventional model requires either mid-grade unleaded or premium unleaded gasoline to run at optimum level.
Although Ford only has this one hybrid on the market, the company is considering a move to include pickup trucks in their hybrid lineup and there have also been reports that other vehicles, including compact cars and sedans, may be included in the future of Ford’s hybrid expeditions as well. The one Ford option may not be the right one for you, of course, if you are looking for a hybrid car and not a hybrid SUV. But if you’re looking for an SUV and you’d like to have a hybrid, make sure to take a look at the Ford Escape Hybrid as one of your options. It is shaping up to be a formidable opponent for other hybrids.
